ENCOUNTERING THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The ancient Celts called the Holy Spirit the Wild Goose, not the gentle Dove. They knew Him as the One who was fierce in love, fierce in presence and fierce in power. It was the Holy Spirit that baptized the church in His presence and power at the inauguration of the church on Pentecost, we need Him as much as the early church did.
Good planning, more young people, better stewardship, contemporary worship, being missional, better leadership: none of these will ‘save’ the church. You can pretty much go to a conference, download a book, subscribe to a podcast in the hope of growing and shepherding your church but none of these things are how God birthed and empowered the Church, big ‘C”.
The Church was birthed in the person, power, and work of the Holy Spirit, not in programs. It is the Holy Spirit that makes scripture come alive, He is the One who drew us to salvation, He is the One who appoints and anoints leaders and gives gifts to men and women. If the church in this city needs one thing to secure her future it is a revelation of the Holy Spirit. The hunger for ‘more’ of Him is growing.
Join us to hear and experience the person, power, and work of the Spirit. This may be a time to reacquaint yourself with the Holy Spirit or it may be a real first encounter, either way, I would love to have you join me for this weekend.
If we need more love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; let’s go to the source.
